Jinja Kids of the Street
January 2024 UPDATE :
Unusual Soldiers assisted the launch of a ministry aimed at providing for the needs of street children in Jinga, Uganda through their partnership with a former Congolese refugee named Safari. They have successfully managed to care for, house, and feed 15 street children, offering them a chance at a better future. In this process, a committed advocate from Norway has emerged to be a voice in support of these marginalized children to keep this mission going. We are thrilled to know this impact will continue to go forward. Safari also visited churches he planted in refugee camps, held a leadership conference, did feeding programs for children, facilitated baptisms, and ordained five new pastors. Safari is undeniably a go-getter. Lets pray he gets some good rest as he has now made his way back to Norway.
November 2023 Post:
Safari, A global unusual soldier, used to be a Congolese refugee. He has an unfolding vision to bring hope throughout Uganda. He has already planted a church in the refugee camp that his family stayed at and now he has set his vision on rescuing children in the Jinja district of Uganda. According to Ground News, “There are now 11,516 street children in Jinja, a significant increase from 3,943 in 2017. 68% of the children were boys, and 32% were girls, aged three to 17. 2% of children identified as refugees, and only 14% were attending school.” Safari hopes to see some of these kids rescued from the streets, from poverty, and human trafficking. He also hopes this ministry will open the door for a new church in the Jinja district. This is a pioneer work so more details will unfold after his next trip the beginning of the year.
Cost: $2,000 to help launch this ministry.
